Hi All,
I just realized that I my contract with my current electricity provider is up, and can switch over to a provider of my choice. I found this one to have a 100% renewable source, a fixed rate of about 11.4 cents per kwh for a 500 kWh avg monthly consumption, and a 12 month term. https://customercare.... Questions to you all: 1) Can you suggest a good "green" provider ? 2) Any other options to consider? 3) How long a term do you recommend? Thanks, Ashok |

They are all very similar in pricing. I just received an offer from YEP that promises 10.1 cent per KWH. When reading further in their offer the 10.1 cent per KWH is for use over 1000KWH per month, otherwise the price is 12.1 cent per KWH. Month to month I pay 12.1 cent KWH. Why not go for the 10.1 cent offer, because my monthly use is around 266KWH per month or about 8.9KWH per day. I'd like to get that down to about 4~5KWH per day but that's not going to happen with the AC running this summer. Still, I don't think I'll make the 1000KWH per month YEP is wanting. So I'm going to stay with my month to month until I can complete my solar panels. There are a lot of factors to deciding who to go with. I've also found the terms of some providers to be interesting. Such as some offer contracts to lock their rate but there is no problem with breaking the contract, no fees, no nothing. So what does the contract do? It just promises the customer that the rate won't go up during the contract period. So read deep into those contracts. Some are really bad, while others are rather surprising.
