Come join us in February to hear Dave Pennington speak about biodiesel. He just got a processor and will be making his own biodiesel soon. If you're not familiar with the term... Biodiesel is a fuel that is non-petroleum-based and usually consists of vegetable oil. It can be used alone or blended with a conventional diesel fuel in a unmodified diesel-engine vehicle. There are also efforts around the metroplex to recycle used cooking oil for biodiesel use. For more on cooking oil recycling, click here. And I hope you will join us on the 28th!

Hi everyone, hope we all learn alot about biodiesel today. Here's an interesting (and recent) article about biodiesel from algae: http://www.greentechmedia.c... So far it's more expensive to make biodiesel from algae, but the side products need to be developed and the process itself needs to be given a lot more resources/attention. You can get thousands of gallons of biodiesel per acre of algae, so IMO it's the fuel of the future.
