Jeff Jones has built a small windmill that he uses to charge batteries. He also has a setup where he can hook this into a house. Jeff is a great "Why spend alot of money" when you don't have to. He will demonstrate the windmill, how to hook up a series of batteries, how to hook solar into them, how the inverter works and hooking it up, and how to hook it into your house. Right now he has an RV he uses with it. From the 5 exit Mission Bay if heading south, or Clairemont Dr if heading north. Drive toward the bay. At stop sign in front of Visitors center, turn right, the parking lot is on the left. He got this cleared to have an event there January 31, Saturday. He will be there from 11am - 2pm, We will try to have him go over everything around 11:15am so if you have another place to go, you won't spend all day here. Hopefully we will have signs up. COURTESY NOTICE FROM JEFF A. Note: NO CENTRAL LOCATION FOR THIS EVENT NEED TO REGISTER SEPARATELY IF INTERESTED NOTE ON RSVP IF YOU WANT TO TRY A CAR POOL GROUP A Self-guided Tour of "Green" Architecture and Construction October 4-5 10am-4pm Presented by the Barona Band of Mission Indians and SDG&E's Sustainable Communities Program On Saturday and Sunday, October 4 and 5, San Diego EarthWorks will host the seventh GreenBuilt Tour, a self-guided tour of homes and businesses that feature "green" architecture and construction that saves resources, energy, water, your health, money... and our environment. Tour participants can find out from the tour site owners and builders what they did, how they did it, and why. Choose from 20 tour sites to visit (different sites on each day). The choices people make when they build or remodel can make a real difference. But making environmentally responsible building choices is not easy. Finding green alternatives requires that owners do lots of research. And, most builders just want to build the same way they have been doing for the past 50 years - they aren't going to offer or build with "green" alternatives unless the owners require it. This is where the Tour comes in. Each Tour site features a variety of sustainable, environmentally-frie ndly building features. The owners and builders you meet on the tour will share their own experience, and can save you a lot of time and worry when planning your own project. Detailed information about the GreenBuilt Tour sites is available at www.GreenBuilt-SanDi ego.org Free GreenBuilt Tour Guides are available at businesses and libraries throughout San Diego County; see the website for details. Tour tickets are $20 through Sept. 28 and $25 afterward and on the day of the tour. Tickets may be purchased by mail, by credit card at our website, or by calling (858) 272-7370. Proceeds go to San Diego EarthWorks, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing awareness of environmental issues through the annual EarthFair in Balboa Park, the annual E.A.R.T.H. Awards, and the Rose Creek Restoration Project. Chris Klein GreenBuilt Tour Manager Kym Raines GreenBuilt Tour Development
