State Senator Phil Bartlett will be hosting a forum on energy and climate change on Monday, April 30th. "Global warming is a seminal issue for our generation," said Bartlett. "Our children and grandchildren will judge us by how we respond in the face of this looming crisis, whether we continue on the current course or we take action to build a more sustainable future."

Bartlett will offer a presentation concerning legislation to combat global warming and the role of Maine's energy policy in the climate change debate. "When we talk about climate change, we're talking about our use and production of energy," said Bartlett. "We need an energy policy that focuses on sustainability and independence from fossil fuels."

Bartlett chairs the Legislature's Utilities and Energy Committee and serves on the Natural Resources Committee, both of which place him on the front lines of the climate change policy debate in Augusta. He also chaired the Maine Energy Council and is the lead senate sponsor of legislation to implement the terms of Maine's participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.
