October Program:
The Transition Movement: Tools for Community Climate Change Action
We will view Transitions the Movie and get an overview of the Transitions Movement facilitated by Sue Thomas.
The Transition Movement is a method of community organizing and education that builds broad, grassroots support for sustainability while increasing resilience to the climate change, energy and economic crises. The future will be increasingly low carbon and local. Engaging people now in a planned transition will ensure ways of life that are more abundant, fulfilling, equitable, sustainable, and socially connected. Since emerging in Ireland in 2005, the Transition movement has spread virally across the UK and beyond, with hundreds of Transition initiatives now underway. Learn about this rapidly growing global movement. Visit www.transitionus.org
There will be time for Q & A following the presentation. Sue also facilitates the symposium Awakening the Dreamer - Changing the Dream and works with the Slow Food/Slow Money movement.
We will be at the same location, but they have changed their name. It is no longer the Home and Garden EXPO Center. It is now called the A to Z Indoor Market Place. Come early and plan to browse the booths that now have products on hand. It is a great place to do a little shopping.
Hope to see you there.
